Stunned - Modern

When the disciples hiked up the Mount of Transfiguration, none of them knew what was in store for them. They surely didn’t expect to see Jesus transformed along with Moses and Elijah, much less to hear the Voice of God from the cloud that descended on them. To be honest, we don’t expect to encounter God every time we enter the sanctuary, either. But maybe we should! Perhaps if we remember the stories passed down to us, we’ll also remember how surprising God’s presence always is. Forgive us for forgetting that God’s power and presence can stun us at any moment. Free us for a life of worship and praise in Jesus’ name. Amen.
