The Test
Feb 21, 2021 • Rev. Brian Sixbey • Luke 4:1-13
What we worship is what we consider worthy of our lives. When we worship self-interest, material wealth, power over others, fame, or things like that, we bow down to something we have created, something lower than us – an idol. The Accuser tells us to give up because we’ll never measure of to Jesus’ standard, just as the Accuser tried to get Jesus to give up. The Accuser is always half-right, which is entirely wrong. While we will not measure up, we are forgiven and invited to grow into the image of God, in whom we were created. When we are tempted to bow down to idols, help us to stand up in the Light of Christ, for we pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
