O God, the darkness of the world surrounds us and, if we are honest, we confess that the darkness of the world resides within us. At times, we prefer the darkness to the light. Have mercy upon us according to your steadfast love and infinite mercy. Remind us that the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it. Guide our feet in paths of righteousness and teach us to walk in the light, through Jesus Christ our Savior, in whose name we pray. Amen.
