O God, you seem so far away. We want to act in ways that are right, but we find ourselves doing just the opposite. You are holy and we are flawed. You are strong and we are weak. You are merciful and we are unforgiving. Remove the sin that separates us from you; gather us into the arms of your mercy; and heal us through the One who is crucified and risen, Jesus Christ our Lord, in whose name we pray. Amen.
