Almighty and merciful God, our lives are your good creation, and yet we confess that we are sometimes out of harmony with your intention. We are overcommitted and anxious, inactive and perplexed. Forgive us. Lord Jesus, we possess neither the clarity of mind nor the energy of will to make a difference in this world, and yet we yearn for a sense of purpose and direction. Have mercy on us. Spirit of God, descend upon our hearts; give life to your body, the church; and renew the face of the earth in the name of Jesus, Amen.
