This report briefly addresses finances at FUMC Fox Hill. The latest information is in the weekly bulletin available at church or through our web site.
We continue to see fairly solid donations supporting First Fox Hill, but they are down. We are covering daily operational expenses, but have been postponing our set-asides for future major maintenance and our Apportionment obligations (more on the latter below). Your contributions are vital to continue our ability to minister to our fellow members, the local community, and the world around us. Those contributions pay for salaries, utilities, maintenance, programs, activities, ministries, etc. Keep up the good work!
To make sure we are correctly recording your support, quarterly reports will be sent during April. These are NOT bills, but a way for you to help us make sure our records are accurate. Please check your document when you receive it and contact us if you have any questions or don’t receive your copy. Thank you!
What are Apportionments? The UMC is a connectional church with local churches working together to support and bolster the work of each other through a structure of Districts, Annual Conferences, and the General Church. The local church is the primary source of connection with the world – on average, 85¢ of every dollar collected supports the local church. Annual Conferences, e.g., Virginia, provide leadership and support for regional ministries receiving about 7¢ of each dollar collected. General Funds are collected on 6 Special Sundays annually averaging 6¢ for each dollar. Support for global work through UMC affiliated programs and general agencies amount to about 2¢ on each dollar. In future months, I’ll detail more about the 15¢ and where it goes.
In the meantime, remember that donations for the General (or One) Fund are what pay our day-to-day bills (including Apportionments) and allow us to make possible the many activities of First Fox Hill.
We love to see you in church each week, but whether or not you are able to join us in person, on-line giving may be a way for you to simplify your support. You can make one-time donations and/or, perhaps even better, set up regular recurring gifts weekly, twice a month, or monthly. Simply go to our web page www.firstumcfoxhill.org, click on “Give”, and scroll down to the “Give Online” box. If you are reading this online, click here for easy access. Or use your camera to scan the QR code which you will regularly see in our publications and live stream. Thanks to everyone for being a supporter of First Fox Hill.
Please direct any concerns or questions about FUMC FH finances to our financial staff through the office or Bill Bryan, Finance Chair, at (757) 851-0748 or by e-mail to billb-1111@cox.net.
