This report briefly addresses finances at FUMC Fox Hill. The latest information is in the weekly bulletin available at church or through our web site.
Like many, if not most, of you reading this article, expenses have increased notably in 2024 at First Fox Hill. While you, our faithful supporters, have continued to be generous, we are challenged in our ability to keep up. Quoting last month’s article, “We urgently need your donations for the General (One) Fund to allow us to become current on our financial obligations.” We have kept up with our operating expenses, but have not been able to make our planned major maintenance set aside deposits. And, while we finally paid our January Apportionments, we are still 3 months behind. We want you to know that we truly appreciate those who have been able to keep up their support and, when possible, make a step up in giving. Your contributions to the General Fund pay day-to-day obligations and allow us to make possible the many programs and activities of First Fox Hill.
What are Apportionments? The UMC is a connectional church with local churches working together to support the efforts of each other through a structure of Districts, Annual Conferences, and the General Church. One of the areas Apportionments cover is the Ministerial Education Fund. Men and women choose the ministry because God calls them. The Ministerial Education Fund is our way of helping them answer that divine call. Our United Methodist seminaries lead the effort to proclaim God's word in a world desperately in need of that message.
When you are thinking and praying about your support of First Fox Hill, consider the many gifts you receive daily and throughout the years. Are you tithing? Do you want to? Now may be a good time to work in that direction. Try increasing whatever you are giving at this point by a few dollars every time you give. Contributing regularly, especially weekly or even monthly, can make your gifts easier on your cash flow. You may want to consider setting up regular giving through our on-line options which can be for any amount and be scheduled automatically for weekly, twice a month, or monthly, as well as one-time gifts. On the web, go to www.firstumcfoxhill.org, click on “Give”, and scroll down to the “Give Online” box. If you are reading this online, click here for easy access. Or use your camera to scan this QR code which you will regularly see in our publications and live stream. Thanks to everyone for supporting First Fox Hill.
Please direct concerns/questions about FUMC FH finances to our financial staff via the office or Bill Bryan, Finance Chair, at (757) 851-0748 or by e-mail to billb-1111@cox.net.
