This report briefly addresses finances at FUMC Fox Hill. The latest information is in the weekly bulletin available at church or through our web site.
June brought us another tight month with income covering our operational expenses, but not allowing us to catch up on Apportionment obligations nor major maintenance set-asides. In early July, we did make an Apportionment payment, but we are still 3 months behind. We truly appreciate those of you who are helping us through your regular contributions. With your help, we hope to catch up with our obligations and work toward setting aside funds for future major maintenance.
What are Apportionments? The UMC is a connectional church with local churches working together to support the efforts of each other through a structure of Districts, Annual Conferences, and the General Church. One of the areas Apportionments cover is the Interdenominational Cooperation Fund. We United Methodists acknowledge that we are but a small part of the worldwide Christian church—the living body of Jesus Christ. Our unity with other Christian communions is affirmed as we witness to a common Christian faith, meet human suffering, and advocate for peace and justice all over the world.
Your contributions to our General Fund make possible everything we do. Those contributions make our existence possible by paying our utilities, salaries, general maintenance and administrative costs, as well as our programs and ministries. [Did you know our electric bill for June alone was $3,770?] Occasionally, we have special requests, but we try to cover our anticipated expenses through our annual budgeted spending plan. The income we receive is directed by your financial staff to our expenses while watching cash flow.
If you haven’t already, you should soon be receiving your quarterly donation statements. We will be passing them out on Sunday mornings to save on postage. If we fail to catch up with you, we will mail yours. These are not bills, but help us double check to see that our records match yours. Please let us know if the records don’t match or you do not receive a statement you are expecting.
Thank you to all who help keep us financially viable. Your support is critical. Regular donations can make your gifts easier on cash flow. On the web, go to www.firstumcfoxhill.org, click on “Give”, and scroll down to the “Give Online” box. If you are reading this online, click here for easy access. Or use your camera to scan the QR code which you will regularly see in our publications and live stream.
Please direct concerns/questions about FUMC FH finances to our financial staff via the office or Bill Bryan, Finance Chair, at (757) 851-0748 or by e-mail to billb-1111@cox.net.
